Our story at 3929 E. Third Street began in 1966, when Dr. McGuire established the original dental practice. Dr. Tharp joined in 1983 and continued its tradition of personal, trusted care for generations of Bloomington families.
In 2025, Dr. Peter Girgis founded Firefly Dental as the next chapter in that history. While the Firefly name is new, the practice’s roots run deep. We are proud to carry this legacy forward with thoughtful, conservative dentistry and a warm, friendly approach to patient care.

Peter Girgis, DMD
Dr. Peter Girgis is the owner and dentist at Firefly Dental. He graduated with honors from Wheaton College and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine, where he was elected by his classmates to serve as the graduation class speaker.
His approach is centered on careful diagnosis, practical recommendations, and treating patients with the same honesty and attention he would want for his own family.
